The mural was painted by an artist named Gillian Bradshaw-Smith from Dallas. She painted paintings on the walls to match a darling children's book.
I was in the middle of painting my daughter's princess room and was inspired by Gillian's mural so I painted paintings of my own.
Years later I had the chance to paint a really fun playroom mural that was done to look like a cartoon room. The client wanted "paintings" of some of the places they like to vacation and a few others to match their children's interests.

These wonderful murals come from Art Effects. Check out their website and be amazed.

Look how fancy painted paintings can be. This one comes from williamthe.artist's photostream.

This is just one section of a really great mural that can be found at the Riverside Metropolitan Museum. I love the way the "painting" of the skull sits on the "shelf". I don't know the artists name, but will have to look the next time I visit the museum.
